Stovie ("we", "us") makes the Stovie iOS app. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it is used. There are no user accounts and no sign-up.
The app generates a random identifier and stores it on your device. It is sent with API calls so our server can apply your usage limits (like the free plan's weekly import count), and with the usage analytics described below. It is not tied to your name, email, or Apple ID.
To see which features people use and to fix problems, the app sends usage data to PostHog, our analytics provider, which processes it on servers in the United States. This covers the screens you open and the buttons you tap, actions like importing, saving or cooking a recipe, the text you type into catalog search, subscription events (plan and price, never payment details), crash and error reports, and basic device information (model, iOS version, language, app version). The app does not record your screen. Our server also records how each import went, including how long the AI took. All of this is linked to the random device identifier, not to your identity, and is never used for advertising or shared with data brokers.
When you paste a video link, the app opens the page and downloads the video to your device, where it stays for cooking mode. The app sends the page's text and the video's audio track to our server, which transcribes the audio with an AI speech-to-text model and writes out the recipe (ingredients and steps) with an AI language model. The audio is not kept after the recipe is written. If the platform does not let your device download the video, our server may fetch it once to transcribe it; it does not keep it.
Imported recipes, along with their cover image and a link to the original post, are stored in our catalog and shown to other users in the app's feed. We do not store the video: other users watch it in the platform's own player. Put plainly: a recipe you import can be seen by other Stovie users, not just you.
Recipes you save to your library and your shopping list are stored locally on your device, not on our servers.
Stovie Pro subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details.
The app reads your device's pasteboard (clipboard) only when you tap the Paste button, to fill in a video link. It does not read the pasteboard automatically or in the background.
We show no ads and use no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. The analytics above stay with us and are not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Deleting the app removes your locally stored recipes and shopping list from your device. To ask us to remove recipes you imported from the shared catalog, or the analytics data tied to your device identifier, contact us at support@getstovie.com.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
